Compensation Specialist
Job Requirements
Under general supervision, this role provides operational support for the administration of the organizations compensation programs and processes. Reviews and supports compensation cases submitted through the case management system, partnering closely with Human Resource Professionals to research issues, analyze job-related data, and provide guidance on compensation matters. Evaluates new and existing jobs through job analysis and market pricing, develops and refines job descriptions, and supports recruitment through compensation guidance. Assist Leaders with the administration of University of Maryland Medical Systems (UMMS) compensation policies and procedures and ensures compliance with labor laws and ensures the accuracy and integrity of compensation data.
Primary Responsibilities
Daily reviews and supports compensation cases submitted through the organizations case management system. Partners with the HR Professional to research details and provide support on varied problems and processes of moderate scope. Supports requests for the review of existing, new or modified jobs. Reviews job duties, qualifications and licensure requirements and performs comparative analyses of jobs to assess the level and complexity of the job under review. Utilizes the market pricing databases to evaluate jobs and determine market pricing and set grade/pay range. Partnering and supporting HR Professionals, develops, writes, edits and clarifies job descriptions. Leads equity and market adjustment analysis and study of years of experience to provide cost and guidance on pay adjustment studies. Reviews salary administration problems/concerns such as internal equity issues and provides recommendations. Supports recruitment with job offers and training. Is the resource for Compensation programs such as bonuses, shift differentials, stipends, or special pay plans. Participates and supports Compensation projects. May lead less complex projects. Responsible for data accuracy. May support and complete salary survey questionnaires. Perform all other duties as assigned.
Work Experience
Education & Experience - Required - Bachelors Degree in Business Administration/Human Resources or 4 years equivalent experience
- Three years Human Resources experience required
Education & Experience - Preferred
- Knowledge of Compensation principles and practices preferred
- Expert-level Excel skills, including advanced formula logic
- Demonstrated experience auditing and validating compensation data with a high degree of accuracy in a regulated and complex healthcare environment
- Experience supporting leaders preferred
